I have enjoyed reading the comments about Gary. He is an amazing man and I wish we could duplicate him for other parts of the city, state, and country. He certainly makes a difference in the lives of others and I am glad to heat that people appreciate him! Thanks for all your comments people!

Gary represents our God better than anyone I know. Gary’s compassion comes from the heart – not only his heart, but from the heart of God to a world so desparately in need. He NEVER focuses on his own needs, but always on the needs of others around him. He is driven to serve every single day, and lives out the days that God gives him with purpose and passion. His life is a true inspiration to all of us. I am very proud to call him brother and friend. My sister Rae Anne is married to Gary and is another hero of mine as they work together to serve “the least of these”. We love you both so much…….

What a great article about a man after God’s own heart. Gary is an example for us all to SHOW God’s love… Gary, to me, represents love in action. A true hero. I am proud to call Gary my brother… you see, he is married to my sister. I love them both very much….

I can only echo what your other commenters have already said. There are so many stories of people brought low by sorrow and circumstances; there but for the grace of God go all of us. Gary is indeed a hero.

This is a time of year when folks are generous with their donations. I know the food banks struggle at other times. There’s a little boy in our neighborhood who does a monthly collection to keep the supply steady.

I worry about all the homeless folks on these bitter cold nights – and days. It is so brutal.

Thank you so much for writing this. Gary is a hero. And I’m grateful that someone else sees and acknowledges that there are so many who need our help, right here in our own back yards. I am not knocking overseas or foreign missions, but please let’s not forget that there are millions of Americans – including children – starving, living on the streets and dying each day as well!
