Praying for you, your Mom and your family. May God bring His peace and healing not only to your Mom, but to you and the rest of the family also. Hip surgery is never fun or easy, but with patience and humor, it can be overcome. I am sure that your Mom will be standing the rehab center on it’s ear with her personality, joy, and zest for life that you see in her eyes. As my Mom told me once, Christmas is a season not a day, it can be celebrated anytime as long as you have your loved ones with you, you have Christmas.

You can’t keep a good woman down. I know Jayne will heal quickly and be chasing you all around in no time with her new 6 million dollar hip! Remember, you said yourself, when she does something, she does it well.

Tell your mom hello from me. I can’t remember the last time I saw her, but it was probably in Salem. I got my parents to move to Bend to be close to family. I think your Mom did the same.
I will be praying for her bones to knit together well and that her therapy goes well.
I’ll try to send her a card too! (I’ll get an address from Maggie)

Ugh. I can relate. We moved back home 3 years ago to be near our elderly parents. They were fine until we got here. Since then, we’ve had 1 near death accident, 1 major heart attack & bypass, a couple falls, Alzheimers diagnosis, several “joint” surgeries and followup procedures. It’s a hard to watch the infallible become fallible.
My MIL has had 5-6 (i lose count) ortho surgeries on different joints/bones. She spent last C’mas in a nursing home/rehab floor recuperating from her broken hip. Been there done that. Out of all of those surgeries, she said her “hip” was THE most painful. So encourage your mom to embrace pain meds and take them even when she feels slightly better. It’s only for a season. She’ll rebound in a few months. Prayers and Blessings!

I have never commented before, but I saw your blog from kellyskorner during your compassion trip. I was drawn into your blog because of how you are raising your three girls. As a new mother, I am always looking to soak up the experiences of those who have done such a beautiful job parenting.

I will be praying for your mom! This post just touched my heart – my mom is the world to my family and it hurts me to even think about her hurting in anyway.
