Making your life count

Yesterday I came across a story that got me thinking.  Currently our church is going through a major facelift thanks to several large churches in the community that have adopted us as their mission project.  Yesterday some volunteers were starting on the exterior of the church and I came across a man named Roger.  Roger recently found out he is dying of colon cancer, but that has not stopped him from making his life count.  Despite the cancer, the pain, the lack of health insurance and money, he was working on the building contributing to the project.  I found out from one of our guys that Roger shows up everyday to help at the church.

As many of you know, our church serves street kids, gangs, ex-cons, and drug addicts.  Roger is living out what is left of his life helping those that society often see’s as throwaway’s. What a way to spend the last days of life.

Are you making your life count?  Some days I waste my time doing meaningless things, other days I am more mindful of making a difference in this world.  So, what would you do if you found out your life was ending?
