I am over half way through “ Just another January,” and almost to “Fun February”.

January can feel like a long month of winter, but the other day, I saw signs of life in a cherry blossom tree, and the sun was shining!On the same day of seeing the cherry blossoms, Steve and I took our moms on an epic date. It was a beautiful day.

I use to dread winter, but I am slowly learning there is something beautiful about every season.  Sometimes, it’s right smack in front of you. And you discover that each season teaches you something important. Each season you walk through can build character and give you wisdom. Then, at some point, if you are smart, you start to listen to the wisdom of others who have walked through many more seasons than yourself ,and you realize, winter isn’t so bad after all.  It only means spring is coming soon.

Our mamas have walked through many winters. They have loved well, they have felt loss, and they choose to live amazing lives.

In the middle of January, Steve and I spent a day with our mamas, because mamas make the winter blues turn to sunshine.

It was a perfect day for an epic date.

My favorite song this winter, is by the Oh Hello’s. When the rain is pounding on the roof night after night, I just keep singing the chorus to this song.
