At 5:10 pm today, I let go.
I love my job, I have incredible passion for my job, and I love my team. At 5:10 pm today, I let go of my job, and went on vacation. I will be back in 14 days.
My husband often accuses me of being a workaholic, and truly he has some validity in this. Luckily, because he works for the same organization, Compassion International, he shares my passion, and he gets it. We get to be apart of changing the lives of thousands of children across the world, in the name of Jesus.
However today, I closed my computer, turned off my email, and for the next 14 days, my attention turns to… Steve.
We head off tomorrow for a vacation of a lifetime.
My expectations of this trip aren’t as much about seeing Portugal and Spain, though I am excited to travel and see this part of the world. I have traveled a lot so I don’t have this need to see it all. I just want to rest, and be with the love of my life.
I have come to realize that seeing the world is not nearly about where you are at, but with whom you are with.
For the next 14 days, I get to be with Steve.
I kind of feel like a young bride again, and I am pretty sure I won’t be able to sleep tonight.
I guess I am in love, and I am letting love meet all my expectations.
People keep asking me, is this a big anniversary trip?
Yes it is. 23.5 years. That’s how we roll.
Steve has stuck with me all these years, and I am a lucky woman, so off we go. Epic.

As a fellow workaholic (which is funny since I’m a stay-at-home mom now, but I’ve learned that work addiction never leaves us), I know how hard it is to let go of work and simply be. Congrats on your decision to unplug. Have a great trip!
Happy Anniversary to you both! Spain is wonderful, but it will be the sweet memories, time together that prevail.
thank you both for serving the children through Compassion!!
