Tanzania vs. Hairspray. An important choice

If you had the chance to go to Tanzania, or to see the play “Hairspray,” what would you choose?

This was my choice about two months ago when I realized I had committed to this Tanzania blog trip with Compassion, but the dates conflicted with the high school musical that my daughter was given a leading role in.  If I had gone to Tanzania with my buddies, Shaun and Keely, I would have missed this important event in my daughter’s life.  It was a pretty easy choice for me.  I must stay home.  Regardless, I want you all to follow along starting this Friday to read the blogs of those who are going to be writing about their journey with Compassion.

I’ll be home with the rest of you reading each blog!!

  1. Hi Wendy, Julia plays the evil Velma Von Tussle and she looks pretty awesome in her blonde wig. The play is tonight at 7 pm and next week, Friday, May 11 at 7 pm, Saturday May 12 at 2 pm and 7 pm. It’s an amazing production this year!

  2. Hi Patricia, Brian would like to know who Julia is playing and when the performances are?

  3. Looks like I would have stayed home this weekend too. We are putting on my son’s homeschool high school graduation Sunday after church. But I would really like to go on a trip…one day! :o)

  4. I was just actually in Hairspray in our community theatre group! Tough choice but you made the right one as you can never get this moment back. The Compassion projects and blogger trips will continue and you will be back on the one that God needs you on then!

  5. I probably would have chosen Tanzania…. but I haven’t traveled as extensively as you, nor have I been a parent as long as you. So I’m wise to tuck this post into my memory for “someday”. Actually, I just found out our church’s women’s retreat falls over my baby’s birthday and I’m torn over what to do. I think you may have given me my answer.

  6. I recently chose to skip a day of my education conference to attend band concerts and basketball games. You never get the special moments in your childs life back! You have to do it now before it;s gone!
