A touch of spring is in the air. The days are getting longer, the the smell of Daphne is like a slice of love to my nose, and the cherry blossoms are blooming. We almost had enough sunlight to get us through our family dinner last night…
… but the sun went down, like a painting in the sky…
…and so we lit some candles to bring in the nightfall.
I love having a little splash of flowers on the table to remind me a new season is coming.
Last night, my family sat at the hundred year old dining room table to share another meal. Seems like our old table brings out the best conversations. It’s amazing.
Our crazy schedules often make us too busy; it’s hard to have time to stop and listen to each other. This is why I love a good family dinner.
I like that moment when everyone is hungry, and the schedule gives way to meat, potatoes, salad and good conversation.
After our dinner last night, Julia left the home to drive back to college. Grace and Isabel went off to do their homework, and Steve started preparing for his next trip. Tomorrow, he leaves for Dallas for the opening of The Rock and Worship Road Show. He will be sleeping on a tour bus for the next few days.Woohoo!
Me? I am trying to get all my work done, because in nine days, I am taking a vacation of a lifetime with my man. When he gets home, this is what is next. Epic indeed! But, as I always say, my favorite moments of life, and the most epic moments, are always here, at this table. Seems like this is where stress goes away and real conversations happen.
I am always grateful for this special place in our family and the precious moments when we come together!
It’s an epic destination.

I also have lots of good memories around that table. Family dinners are one of the essentials in life. Thanks for those moments.
