The Big Apple

We made it safely to NYC!  I once read a book called, The Farther You Go, the Closer You Become.  It was a book with funny travel stories about families traveling together.  Travel definitely brings out the good, bad and ugly in everyone.  It is a great way to fully see how your family is doing together (yep, you know if you’re family enjoys being with each other or not).  I am happy to report on day one, we are doing ok together!!  Tonight we experienced nightlife in Times Square.  We had a great family moment. The top priority was to find the M&M factory and this was Grace’s face when she finally saw the giant billboard flashing!  Thus, the pictures will tell the rest of the story.

Day 1 By Isabel

Today is Thursday.  It is the first day of our trip.  When we were waiting to weigh our bags, my backpack felt like it kept getting heavier and heavier.

The plane was just the same as I remember it, which was boring.

I miss home a lot and all my friends.  If all my friends and teachers are reading this I want to say I miss you, especially Ms. Plitt and Mr. Beu.  I hope you are ok because I am.

Oh and Aunt Maggie, how are you?  I don’t think little kids will like riding in a plane.  It might sound fun but its not.  You get bored and you will think….. yippee I took off, and I am in the air.  You will be excited but 5 minutes later you will get really really bored with nothing to do except look out the window, go to the bathroom, play with the toys you bring and hold your sisters homework.  Yeah, that’s what I did for about 30 minutes.   The only thing you can do with that is read it.  Since my sister is in 8th grade, you can’t even understand one word.  I hope you read this tomorrow.

Day 1 By Grace

Oh my gosh!!! I miss you people sssssssoooooo much!!! I wish you could all be here with me on my journey to AFRICA!!!

The journey all started from waking up at 3:30am. That was so not fun at all, but, I was wide-awake surprisingly it took awhile to get the airport but that’s ok. After 2 hours on the plane, we arrived in Denver at around 8:20am west coast but there, 9:20.  I LOVED the Red Carpet Club (If you fly United and pay extra money you can become a member there, it is super nice there) they had donuts, coffee, water, pop and more. I had seven donuts (they were small!) I am a BIG breakfast eater, I once ate 15 pancakes!!! After awhile we got on a plane to New York, when we got there we got a killer view out or window and we went to M&M WORLD (my favorite candy)… I was in heaven!!! When we were walking there we saw a guy in a spider man suit. We laughed so hard. I miss you all!

Day 1 By Julia

Hello every one this is Julia From New York Time Square! I want to say hi to all my friends and teachers back home and to tell you guys that we are having fun! Today was, well, long. To give you a little perspective on how tired we all are here, we woke up at 4:00 am, got on our flight to Colorado a 6:00 am, we were at the air port for about 2 hours. Then we flew to New York, that flight took 3 hours. My math teacher Mr. Pederson will be happy to know that I finished 4 sheets of homework on that flight. So we are pretty tired as you can only imagine. We are all nearly passed out on our beds now. I just wanted to let you all know that we are having fun and I am missing all of you!

  1. I realize Patricia is the unofficial photographer for the family but PLEASE someone make sure there are lots of pictures of her too! I find at the end of many great family activities, it appears that my children have no mother based on the photo history.
